SHALI TIBA

SHALI TIBA

                       Or

                 SHALI TEMPLE

INTRODUCTION :-

Raman36verma.blogspot.com
The Shali Tibba is a peak that is hard to miss. It towers over the district of Shimla, right behind the Mashobra ridge. Despite its conspicuousness, however, the peak does not attract as much attention as it deserves. Shali Tibba, at an altitude of 9,423 feet, is surrounded by Shimla, Mashobra, Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda. This stand-alone peak provides a magnificent vantage point for a panoramic 360 degree view of Himachal Pradesh.

The road leading to the base camp, Khatnol Village, winds through a quiet and beautiful valley of blue pine and cedar forest. Away from the hustle of Shimla, the trek to Shali Top is beautiful, short and easy and can be completed in a single day. It is an ideal weekend trek in Shimla.

HUMBLE REQUEST TO EVERYONE :-

(Not to pollute the nature beauty)

  • Be part of the solution, not the pollution.
  • Forests are green, oceans are blue;
keep the Earth clean, for me and you.

This is a particularly interesting, it involves the highest peak in the Shimla hills, known as Shali Tibba. Far enough to avoid the hungry eyes of the average tourist, yet near enough to be within relatively easy reach, it is a 35 km ramble through hill and dale. One gets to cross a river, walk through a forest, reach a peak and as a fringe benefit, trek through leopard and bear country.

This temple is about 10 k.m from my native village(Village Banuna,Pargana Saraj, Teh. Sunni,Distt. Shimla,H.P.). This is a very nice temple of Bhagwati Mata. It is situated at the top of hill.People of the surrounding area is having deep faith in the Bhagwati Mata. From there we can see nice view of nature. There is no habitation up to 5-6 K.M.from this temple.Road to this temple was constructed by Maharaja Har Inder Singh of Farid Kote in 1936. Mr. Basant Lal was the wazir of Bhajji State at that time.

Now yatry Saray has been constructed at the mandir premises. Devitees can stay there over night.

OVERVIEW :-

Cloudsdipping in the valleys, hanging cliffs, forested path, trails branching off in both directions, calls of some Himalayan birds and a few village houses sheltered by the wilderness are the main features of this hike. There is nothing here that does not fascinate you. You are going to be here with yourself. Leave everything that is associated with you and come close to your heartbeat and breathing sound. Go alone or with your friends, you will enjoy but the first condition is to maintain silence and enjoy the tranquillity of the forest.

Locals visit the temple on the top of the Shali peak almost every week. During Navratras a number for people also go for goat sacrifice. The temple is dedicated to Maa Bhimakali and is situated on a round shaped plateau with a square platform on the top. The tiny structure is constructed of local wood and stone with its roof covered with local slates. Below the temple from where a flight of stairs take you to it, a few rooms have been constructed for the visitors to stay. Blankets are available to escape the night chill.

History and folklore: The Shali top has atemple dedicated to Bhima Kali, a goddess, who is highly revered by locals. Devotees flock to the top regularly, especially during Navratri. The temple has been constructed with wood and stones, typical of rural Himalayan architecture.

Bhima kali goddes has came from
Sarahan . About this incident  It is Written In the Sarahan book's ( page 18 ).
It is believed that some years ago, the scholar of Dalana village brought the statue of Goddess from Pandit Sarahan, it was installed in Dalana. After this, according to the Goddess's mother, the local people built the mother's temple in the peak of Shali at 9420 height. Till some time ago a small temple of Goddess Mata was located here, but at present, the efforts of the temple development meeting expanded the premises.
The temple route is surrounded by dense and beautiful trees of cedar, mauru, baan. According to the legends associated with the temple, in ancient times, when health services were not so much available, people bowed their heads in the temple of Mother Shali for the prevention of diseases and prayed for the cure of diseases.

The miracle of the mother would have prevented the disease without any medicine and the patient would have a healthy and beautiful body.

People have faith in this place as long as they come here without any medicine and they will be able to conquer serious disease.
